THE ROLE:

As a CPU Performance Team Lead, you will have a unique opportunity to lead the team responsible for AMD’s next-generation CPU performance analysis and optimization. You will manage a team of talented engineers with diverse experiences and demonstrated contributions to CPU performance innovation who have a track record of success.

As the leader of the Performance Team, you will work on the leading edge of processor technology and collaborate with the Core Architecture and RTL teams to make AMD’s ambitious future CPU roadmap a reality.

THE PERSON:

You enjoy leading a senior, geographically distributed team and have a strong set of management skills. • Represent the Performance Team and report regular progress towards program goals.
  • Communicate program, organization, and company updates to the team.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
  • Extensive experience managing significant CPU performance analysis and optimization efforts, as well as large (20+ engineers), experienced teams to deliver measurable improvements across product lines.
  • Working knowledge with all aspects of CPU performance, including Early Investigation, Core Architecture, Performance Modeling, Analysis and Correlation, and Post-Silicon Performance Validation.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills with a track record of effective cross-functional collaboration across engineering, product, and validation teams.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Proven experience in influencing senior decision‑making and representing the organization in high‑stakes external and internal forums (verbal and written).
  • Rapid learner with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; excels at hypothesis-driven performance investigation and making timely, data-backed decisions. Quickly assimilate new architectures and tools, diagnose root causes, and implement robust solutions under time pressure.
  • Hands-on experience with modern ISAs (e.g., x86-64, Armv8/Armv9, or RISC-V) in performance analysis and optimization contexts.
ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE DESIRED:
  • Technical background in one or more areas of CPU performance:
Performance Modeling, Architecture, Correlation, or Post-Silicon Performance Validation.
  • Technical background in one or more traditional CPU units (e.g., Branch Prediction, Instruction Fetch, Decode, Execution, Scheduler, Floating Point, Load Store, etc.).
  • Knowledge of x86 Architecture (ISA).
  • System-level knowledge or experience (e.g., Memory Controller, IO, etc.).
  • Demonstrated leadership development through formal training, coaching, mentorship, or practical management experience.
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
