  • Conduct inspections, monitoring, training, and testing of sites for compliance with university storm water, wastewater, SPCC, PSTs/USTs, and other environmental programs
  • Attend seminars and workshops to maintain environmental-program knowledge
  • Conduct and present environmental training for institutional employees and students
  • Lead support for construction project teams on environmental programs and regulatory requirements
  • Attend construction progress meetings and communicate with EHS staff and project teams
  • Review design documents for environmental compliance and provide comments and feedback
  • Review, comment on, and approve construction Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans as needed
  • Coordinate environmental compliance services with the environmental programs manager and team members
  • Maintain program compliance reporting systems and develop corrective actions and training for deficiencies
  • Communicate with stakeholders across UT Austin main campus and satellite locations
  • Document corrective actions and assist with standard operating procedures and written guidelines
  • Collect wastewater and storm water samples
  • Test, inspect, and calibrate equipment; review and perform quality control of analytical results
  • Assist with permit-required reports
  • Respond to environmental complaints, spills, odors, and contamination
  • Analyze incident causes and environmental, personnel, and facility-safety impacts; report findings to management
  • Lead response to environmental incidents at construction sites
  • Schedule and monitor pretreatment-device services and disposal of non-hazardous waste streams
  • Maintain current waste profiles and inspect pretreatment units
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, engineering, a natural science, industrial hygiene, or a related field
  • Class "C" Driver License
  • Current three-year driving record from the current state of residence
  • If not currently a Texas resident, obtain a Texas Driver's License within 30 days after entering Texas as a new resident
  • At least 2 years of experience with a Bachelor's degree or a Master's degree
  • Working experience with accuracy and attention to detail, effective communication, initiative, interpersonal relationships, problem solving, and service excellence
  • Basic understanding of critical thinking and decision making
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without sponsorship
  • Security-sensitive position; selected applicant must clear a three-year driving record and criminal background check
  • Preferred:
    Master's degree in environmental science, engineering, a natural science, industrial hygiene, or a related field
  • Preferred: HAZWOPER training certification
  • Preferred:
    Experience with Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs), wastewater permits, SPCC, and TCEQ permits
  • May be required to pass a physical examination
  • May require tuberculosis screening and occasional use of a respirator
  • Must participate in the on-call program if qualified
  • May be required to lift up to 50 lbs and operate forklifts, personnel lifts, cranes, and job-related equipment
  • Required materials:
