A well-funded advanced nuclear technology company is hiring its first Director of Procurement.
The business designs and manufactures small modular reactors and is moving from pilot deployment into fleet-scale manufacturing. Headcount is currently around 70 and expected to pass 100 within twelve months. This is a newly created role reporting directly to the CTO.
The opportunityYou would build the function from that starting point: the policies, the systems, the supplier base, the qualification framework, and eventually the team.
This is a sole contributor position at the outset, with hiring to follow as production scales.

- Vendor qualification and oversight aligned to nuclear supplier quality expectations
- Make/buy decisions and technical requirements alongside Engineering
- Supply chain risk across a multi-jurisdiction supplier base spanning the US, UK and Europe
- Capital equipment budgeting, forecasting and purchase commitments with Finance
- Import, export and trade compliance for international procurement
- You have built or materially transformed a procurement function, not managed within an existing one.
- You have held a senior procurement role and owned the function, including hiring
- Experience procuring long-lead, safety-critical or ASME-code components
- A combination of large-company global sourcing discipline and smaller-company or startup pace.
- Strong contract negotiation on capital equipment and long-term supply agreements
- Comfort working directly with engineers on technical requirements and manufacturability
- Experience in capital-intensive engineered equipment: power generation, aerospace, defense, semiconductor capital equipment or heavy industrial
- Experience taking a product from prototype into repeatable production
