Here The Role
We are looking for a motivated Transmission Line Engineer to join our team and help deliver a growing portfolio of critical transmission infrastructure projects. In this role, you will work with experienced engineers to support projects primarily designed by external engineering consultants, providing engineering review and coordination from initial scoping through design, construction, and project closeout. You will work closely with consultants and internal teams including Project Management, Construction, Substation Engineering, Real Estate, Planning, Permitting, and Operations to identify project constraints, resolve technical challenges, and keep projects moving forward.
This position provides an excellent opportunity to develop transmission line engineering expertise, gain experience across the full project lifecycle, and grow into the engineering lead for increasingly complex capital projects.
- Support transmission line capital projects from initial scoping and project development through design, construction, and closeout.
- Review engineering work performed by external consultants to help ensure designs meet project requirements, engineering standards, safety expectations, and applicable codes.
- Assist with the review of engineering deliverables, including transmission line models, calculations, drawings, specifications, material requirements, and 'Issued for Construction' design packages.
- Coordinate with Project Management, Construction, Substation Engineering, Real Estate, Planning, Permitting, Operations, and other stakeholders to help identify and resolve project constraints.
- Provide engineering support during construction by assisting with RFIs, evaluating field conditions, reviewing design changes, and coordinating solutions with experienced engineers and project stakeholders.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of transmission line engineering standards, design practices, consultant workflows, and project execution processes.
- Bachelors degree in engineering, engineering technology, engineering physics, biosystems engineering, mathematical science, physical science or related science plus one or more years of post-Bachelors engineering experience relating to the area of engineering specialization required to perform the job.
- Driver license
- A strong foundation in civil, structural, electrical, or related engineering principles with an interest in overhead transmission line design and construction.
- Exposure to transmission line, utility, structural, or other infrastructure engineering through professional experience, internships, coursework, or project work.
- Familiarity with engineering design software such as PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, PLS-TOWER, or similar analysis and design tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an interest in understanding how engineering decisions affect constructability, cost, schedule, safety, and long-term system performance.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively with engineers, consultants, construction personnel, project managers, and other stakeholders.
- A desire to learn, take ownership, seek increasing responsibility, and develop the technical and project leadership skills needed to independently lead transmission line projects.
