Even if you don't qualify or have specific experience in every facet of this role, we encourage you to apply.* ## Purpose To oversee the logistical and technical execution of Butler School of Music public performances in our three main performance venues and manage facility rental contracts and logistics.
Serves as liaison for hall issues with other campus departments and community partners. This position reports directly to the Assistant Director for Operations and supervises a team of part-time student event managers.## Responsibilities
* Hall Coordination and Maintenance:
Acts as point person for faculty, students, and rental entities with respect to operation and condition of all three performance venues. Coordinates all equipment moves (including choral shells, platform risers, choral risers) with division personnel and event staff. Updates Building Manager regularly on any maintenance needs in all performance halls. Coordinates safety plans, additional security presence, and incident reporting procedures in partnership with necessary College and Butler School personnel.
Performs basic maintenance and upkeep in performance halls (solving HVAC irregularities, tidying backstage, repairing broken seats and equipment). Maintains backstage door codes for Jessen Auditorium.
* Event Management and Staffing:
Hires, trains, and schedules all student worker event managers. Keeps training and handbook materials up to date for all workers. Provides supervision and additional support for large performance events and prepares production reports for event staff prior to scheduled performances. Provides annual training for TAs with ensemble production roles in Bates Recital Hall.
* Rental Contracts and Production:
Acts as point person for outside rental customers for Butler School of Music facilities. Identifies rental needs, schedules rental dates, prepares contracts, and coordinates with the business office to finalize contracts. Prepares invoices and collects rental fees. Schedules equipment moves and student worker event managers for rental events.
* Liaison with Outside Entities:
Coordinates with other University of Texas departments when they host events in Butler School facilities. Serves as Konecranes liaison for canopy inspections in Bates Recital Hall.##
Required Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree and at least two years of professional experience in venue management, production management, or related event-support work in theatres or concert halls.
* Project management experience.
* Proficiency with a computer and Microsoft Suite programs.
* Strong writing and communication skills.
