Temporary Audio Visual and Event Support Worker - Thompson Conference Center (UTEMPS) Job Summary

Outgoing service-oriented team member responsible for full event support and customer service for Academic, Government, and Non-Profit Clients at the Thompson Conference Center (TCC). Flexible, communicative, problem-solving Event Worker.

• Provide customer service and assist clients with general needs during events.
• Support clients in using TCC audiovisual equipment.
• Set up rooms, equipment, and spaces, including moving tables and chairs in a timely manner.
• Assist with audio visual equipment setup and troubleshooting.
• Resolve problems quickly and efficiently.
• Perform general light facility maintenance and custodial services, such as vacuuming, wiping down rooms and patios, removing trash, and monitoring the parking lot.
• Maintain effective team communication and perform other duties as assigned.

• One year of experience with events.
• Basic interpersonal skills.
• High School Graduate or GED.
• Experience with customer service, dealing with various clientele.
• Experience working with computers.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a varied team environment.
• Successfully working on multiple projects simultaneously.
• Ability to pivot between different types of work.
• Balanced mental, interpersonal, and physical work capacity.

• Superior customer service skills in a business environment.
• Superior communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to engage in different communication styles.
• Two or more years of experience with event setup and support.
• Two or more years of experience with audiovisual setup and support.
• Experience with the repair and maintenance of audiovisual equipment.
• Attention to detail.
• One year of experience assisting with the maintenance of an events center.
• Experience working in an academic or hospitality setting.
• Multitasking ability.
• Bachelor of Arts.

• Polo or other casual work shirt, work pants such as Carhartt or Dickies, and heavy‑to‑ed closed‑toe shoes.
• Manual dexterity, lifting, pushing, or pulling, standing.

• Hours per week: 19
• Work hours:
  
  7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
• Open Monday–Saturday, 7:00 a.m.–10:00 p.m.; occasional Sundays.
• Shift schedule varies each week based on client needs; typical shift can be 4–5 hours or more.
