Symetra has an exciting new opportunity to join us as a Sr. Finance Project Manager on the Investments Accounting team!

About the role

As a Sr. Finance Project Manager, you’ll lead complex finance initiatives from strategy through execution, drive process improvements, manage risks and stakeholders, and partner closely with leadership to strengthen financial operations and controls.

What you will do
  • Lead large, complex, or multi‑workstream finance projects from end to end
  • Translate finance strategy, regulatory requirements, and reporting needs into clear project roadmaps
  • Manage advanced risks, dependencies, and stakeholder expectations across functions
  • Drive process improvements across close, reporting, reconciliations, and disclosure activities
  • Mentor junior project managers and raise execution standards across the team
  • Partner with finance leadership to address ongoing execution challenges and strengthen control environments

Compensation

Salary Range: $96,700 - $161,200 plus eligibility for the company annual bonus program.

Who You Are
  • High School Diploma is required; plus a Bachelor’s degree in finance or a relevant field (preferred)
  • 8–10 years of meaningful, related professional experience
  • 3–6 years of finance and project delivery experience
  • Proven experience leading complex, cross‑functional finance projects
  • Strong analytical, technical, and problem‑solving skills
  • Ability to apply best practices and business insights to improve processes, services, and outcomes
  • Professional certifications such as PMP, PMI‑ACP (or comparable Agile), or Lean Six Sigma Green/Black Belt — preferred or willingness to pursue in the future
