We are seeking an experienced and strategic Controller to lead the organization’s financial operations and support long‑term growth. In this critical leadership position, you will oversee all aspects of financial management, including accounting, budgeting, reporting, compliance, and internal controls.
Reporting directly to the CFO, you will serve as a key advisor and partner in driving financial discipline, operational efficiency, and organizational scalability. This role is ideal for a results‑driven finance professional who thrives in a fast‑paced, evolving environment.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the timely preparation of GAAP‑compliant financial statements
- Manage month‑end and year‑end close processes
- Oversee all daily accounting operations, including GL, reconciliations, AR/AP, and job cost accounting
- Establish and maintain internal controls and internal audit processes
- Ensure accurate tracking and reporting of materials; collaborate with IT to automate inventory controls
- Develop and implement written accounting policies and procedures
- Plan and lead annual external audits
- Oversee tax compliance, reporting, and filing schedules
- Partner with Operations and Finance on cost accounting
- Manage multi‑state payroll processing, tax filings, and year‑end reporting
- Oversee business licenses, permits, and other regulatory filings
- Liaise with federal agencies on grant‑related cost reimbursements
- Provide leadership to the accounting team, including hiring, coaching, mentoring, and performance management
- Active CPA
- Minimum 15 years of accounting experience in a large manufacturing environment (related industry experience preferred)
- Strong attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills
- High intellectual curiosity and strong personal accountability
- Deep expertise in cost accounting
- Experience with government grant accounting
- Experience with stock‑based compensation
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret ERP‑level transactional detail
- Strong business acumen in financial, distribution, and manufacturing systems
- Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines
- Strong collaborator with the ability to build effective cross‑functional relationships
- Proficiency with SAP or similar ERP system
