Position SummaryThe Transitions Property Accountant will be responsible for supporting the onboarding and disposition of properties as it relates to the Property Accounting function. The focal point for this position is to ensure proper set up for takeover properties and to wind down a property’s books through the close of the bank account upon disposition.
Responsibilities- Set up and maintain current and accurate takeover and disposition checklists, complete assigned tasks on time, and communicate reason for any delays
- Attend assigned takeover and disposition calls held by the Transition & Due Diligence Team
- Prepare accurate acquisition journal entries, sale pr orations, and post close true ups
- Reconcile opening A/R, Prepaid Rent, and Security Deposit balances and resolve discrepancies
- Assist with mapping of prior management and/or client GL accounts to RPM accounts for financial history uploads or custom account trees
- Wire mortgage payments for takeover properties while actively working on setting up auto-ACH with lenders
- Assist with Yardi/One Site build for property takeovers and breakdown for property dispositions; ensure proper settings and security is in place
- Prepare monthly bank and balance sheet reconciliations for assigned disposed properties
- Collaborate with the Property Accounting Team to resolve outstanding issues
- Effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, customers and the public
- Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables
- Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- Read, analyze and interpret business, professional, technical or governmental documents
- Assist with audit requests for disposed properties
- Perform other duties and tasks as assigned by Supervisor or Executive Team
- Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 3+ Years of Property Management Experience
- Preferred Industry Specific Software:
Yardi, Entrata, and/or Real Page/Onesite - Microsoft Office Suite, Project Management, Adobe
Physical Requirements:
- May be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time
- Must be able to read documents, computer screens and data
- Must be able to hear and understand verbal communications in person and over the phone or computer
- May occasionally be required to lift or carry items such as files or office supplies weighing up to 15 pounds
- Must be able to operate a computer, keyboard, mouse and other office equipment
- This is a hybrid role, requiring the associate to work in one of our corporate or regional offices 4 days per week
- The office is an open setting which may include bright lights, constant noises and distractions
