What to Expect
The Fixed Asset Accountant will handle all aspects of maintaining and recording fixed assets. They will analyze asset requests and CAPEX Purchase Orders (PO) to ensure proper classification as a capital asset, and complete monthly, quarterly and yearly reconciliations. This role reports to the Fixed Assets accounting manager and contributes to the delivery of the Fixed Assets Finance function organization wide.
WhatYou'll Do
- Review asset requests and Capex POs to ensure proper account coding and compliance with capitalization policy.
- Serve as cross-functional liaison for fixed asset transactions, asset owners, & PO requesters. Also perform asset approvals, capitalization, transfers, and disposals.
- Analyze AUC (CIP) assets/projects, capitalize and place assets in service when projects are complete. Analyze aging AUC assets and prepare financial metrics on AUC assets for monthly cycle review.
- Prepare journal entries, account analysis and reporting, including all Fixed Asset schedules for interim and EOQ presentations.
- Work closely with internal departments (i.e. production, operational teams, FP&A, and tax) and support Annual Confirmation.
- Work with each FA region to obtain potential manual processes and convert the process to automation, reducing manual work within the FA team.
- Act as primary point of contact and system administrator for the Tesla Fixed Asset system.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, or equivalent experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel; must have solid written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to work effectively with others and build partnerships in a collaborative environment.
- Experience and strong understanding of internal controls.
- Maintain flexibility in a fast‑paced environment, and continuously evolving to meet changing business needs.
- Quick learner and problem solver when faced with new issues or challenges.
- Passion for driving and delivering results and constructive change.
