The Controller is responsible for leading the organization's accounting and financial operations while ensuring the integrity of financial reporting, internal controls, compliance, and business processes. This role oversees all accounting functions, including general ledger management, financial reporting, budgeting support, cash management, audit coordination, tax compliance, and operational finance activities.

As a key member of the leadership team, the Controller partners closely with executive management and operational leaders to provide financial insights, strengthen business performance, mitigate risk, and support strategic decision-making. The Controller is responsible for developing and maintaining scalable financial processes, fostering a high-performing accounting team, and ensuring the organization maintains sound financial practices.

  • Direct all accounting operations, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with applicable accounting standards and organizational policies.
  • Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, management reports, and supporting analyses.
  • Analyze financial performance, operating trends, and key business metrics, providing actionable recommendations to executive leadership.
  • Develop and maintain reporting packages that support informed business decision-making and organizational growth.
  • Present financial results, forecasts, and performance metrics to executive leadership and other stakeholders.
Accounting Operations & Internal Controls
  • Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely completion and accuracy of financial records.
  • Maintain oversight of the general ledger, account reconciliations, fixed assets, project accounting, and other core accounting functions.
  • Establish, monitor, and continuously improve internal controls, accounting policies, and financial procedures.
  • Ensure appropriate segregation of duties and compliance with financial governance requirements.
  • Evaluate accounting workflows and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and scalability.
Budgeting, Forecasting & Financial Analysis
  • Support annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning initiatives.
  • Monitor actual performance against budget and forecast expectations, identifying risks, opportunities, and corrective actions.
  • Provide detailed financial analysis related to profitability, cash flow, project performance, labor utilization, and operational efficiency.
  • Partner with department leaders to improve financial accountability and performance management.
Operational & Project Finance Support
  • Collaborate with operational leadership to review project financial performance, forecast costs, evaluate profitability, and address financial challenges.
  • Support contract administration, billing processes, collections efforts, and project accounting activities.
  • Review financial implications of operational decisions and provide recommendations that align with organizational objectives.
  • Assist business leaders with financial modeling, scenario analysis, and strategic planning initiatives.
Audit, Tax & Regulatory Compliance
  • Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors, tax advisors, financial institutions, insurance providers, and other third-party stakeholders.
  • Coordinate annual audits, tax filings, and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations and reporting obligations.
  • Monitor legal, contractual, insurance, and compliance matters that may impact the organization's financial position.
Treasury & Risk Management
  • Oversee cash management, banking relationships, and liquidity planning.
  • Monitor financial risk exposures and implement controls to protect organizational assets.
  • Evaluate insurance coverage and claims activity, ensuring appropriate risk mitigation strategies are maintained.
