Overview
We are seeking a detail‑oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join our Accounting team. The primary focus of this role is to own the rent payment process by supporting and collaborating closely with the Real Estate, Lease Administration and other internal teams, as well as external parties such as landlords and real estate brokers. The ideal candidate will ensure that all rent and other payments made to landlords are processed accurately and in a timely manner and will prepare month‑end close tasks related to ASC 842 (Leases).
Duties & Responsibilities- Assist in preparing the monthly rent check run, ensuring all payments to landlords are calculated accurately, in accordance with lease agreements, to the appropriate parties.
- Work closely with the Real Estate & Lease Administration teams to gather necessary information regarding lease terms, commencements, payment schedules, and any changes to rent agreements.
- Enter details from lease agreements, amendments, and other supporting documents to lease accounting software and utilize reporting to prepare month‑end journal entries in accordance with ASC 842 Lease Accounting standards.
- Review invoices and payment requests to ensure accuracy and compliance with established policies and procedures.
- Maintain organized records of all rent payments and related documentation, ensuring that all transactions are properly documented in the accounting system.
- Perform regular reconciliations of accounts related to rent and operating expense payments, investigating and resolving discrepancies as needed.
- Prepare and present reports related to rent and operating expense analytics, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.
- Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations related to rent payment processes.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements in the rent payment cycle and assist in implementing best practices.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 1–2 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a role focused on rent management with multi‑site business experience (ASC 842).
- Proficiency in accounting and/or expense management software (experience with Net Suite, Lease Query, Zoho, Airbase, and/or Ramp is a plus) and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial transactions.
- Excellent organizational and time‑management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively collaborate with internal teams and external parties.

- Base salary: $65,000 plus 5 % bonus
