Asset Management Associate – RWE Americas, LLC

Functional area: Finance / Controlling;
Operations & Maintenance;

Remuneration: Exempt

Role Responsibilities
  • Assist the Asset Manager in driving profitability of solar and battery storage assets (BESS) by analyzing operational and financial performance and identifying the causes for underperformance.
  • Support the development and execution of cost‑reduction or performance‑optimization strategies.
  • Monitor asset KPIs and perform trend analysis to detect performance issues, investigate underperformance, and develop and implement strategies to maximize operational performance; manage technical issues to ensure strategies are fully analyzed and appropriate solutions implemented.
  • Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and asset‑level financials to identify opportunities and risks.
  • Manage select vendor/service provider relationships and assist in contract alignment reviews.
  • Provide detailed reporting and insights to internal stakeholders on operational and financial performance.
  • Stay abreast of relevant regulations and ensure compliance with regulatory obligations (local, state, federal, environmental permits) and internal governance processes.
  • Implement and continuously improve local asset management systems and processes consistent with organizational policies and standards.
  • Coordinate across departments to resolve asset‑level issues, communicate clearly with cross‑functional partners, and present findings in meetings with the Asset Manager's supervision.
  • Establish collaborative relationships with key support departments such as Operations, Engineering, HSSE, Procurement, and Controlling.
Job Requirements and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, or a related field and/or two additional years of comparable work experience;
    Master’s degree or professional certification is a plus.
  • Minimum one year of experience; proven experience in the renewable energy sector preferred.
  • Asset Management, Operations, or Controlling experience highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with relevant regulatory frameworks and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to apply operational, financial, and contractual knowledge to drive asset performance.
  • Understanding of key KPIs and data resources.
  • Experience investigating root causes of asset issues using trend analysis.
  • Ability to recommend standard corrective actions.
  • Strong financial modeling and analytical skills.
  • Strong commercial acumen and entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to translate technical findings into commercial implications.
  • Strong organization skills and ability to coordinate multiple tasks and deliverables, meeting deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to manage internal/external relationships.
  • Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Teams.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Motivated self‑starter, goal‑oriented, and strong problem‑solving abilities.
  • Proven ability to empathize, build relationships, and effectively communicate with people from a diverse set of backgrounds.
  • Detail‑oriented and has a sound understanding of business concepts.
  • This position is office‑based with some travel and visits to other RWEA offices and field locations.
  • Must be able to sit, walk, or stand for long durations of time.

Pay Range

The annual base salary range for this position in Illinois is $70,000 – $100,000.
