Senior Cost Manager - Data Centers

Overview

We are seeking a Senior Cost Manager - Data Centers to join our team in Austin, TX. The Cost Manager – Data Centers serves as the client's main contact for providing project cost and schedule management services, including invoice validation, cost forecasting and reporting, change management, close‑out administration, earned‑value and risk management. This position is based out of one of our center‑of‑excellence hubs in Austin, TX;
New Albany, OH; or Indianapolis, IN, or other Central‑Time‑Zone cities, and reports to an account lead. It offers a full‑time opportunity with attractive compensation and robust benefits.

• Manage, revise, and maintain the status of detailed project cost estimates/forecasts through all project phases.
• Track and analyze project costs—including budgets, commitments, actuals, accruals, and forecasts—using Earned Value methodology and conduct forecast, variance, trend, risk, and contingency reserve analyses.
• Participate in the development and improvement of project controls systems and recommend enhancements in tools, methods, and processes.
• Establish a project work‑breakdown structure in line with industry best practices.
• Assist in analyzing project control requirements during bid reviews to ensure cost‑control requirements are incorporated into contracts and purchase orders.
• Interact with other project groups regarding cost codes, purchase‑order commitments, and change orders.
• Assist in creating detailed project budgets and cash‑flow projections.
• Work with senior project management staff to manage overall cost‑control efforts.
• Help identify early long‑lead items, resource constraints, and required project start dates.
• Manage key project indicators and commercial reports.
• Produce forecasts of total project costs, annual costs, and monthly cash‑flow costs and provide variance analysis and explanations.
• Manage the risk‑management process, including identification, evaluation, mitigation, and monitoring of risks.
• Collaborate with senior project managers to ensure all contract deliverables and deadlines are met.

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• RICS or QS certification preferred.
• Preference for PMP, CCP, or EVP certification.
• 5–10+ years of relevant experience in large to mega‑sized construction projects.
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in data‑center projects.
• Strong cost‑management, project‑planning, and estimating skills with effective communication abilities.
• Proficiency in using A/E and CM cost or schedule data to evaluate project status.
• Experience in developing budgets, cash‑flows, and financial analysis.
• Understanding of different contract types (Lump Sum, T&M, etc.) and their implications.
• Proficient in managing large datasets, preparing trend curves, dashboards, and performing statistical and financial analysis in MS Excel or similar.
• Strong IT skills (Internet, Intranet, Windows OS, Adobe Acrobat, MS Office Suite, MS Project).
• Highly articulate with analytical problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Expected compensation range is $130,000 – $180,000 annually, depending on skills, experience, and location.
