Position: TDI-Actuary III-IV (Amended 1-23-2026)

Actuary III/IV (Health Actuary)

Perform highly complex and/or advanced actuarial work to support the strategic objectives of the Financial Regulation Division. Provide actuarial advice, consultation, analysis, and examination of reserves and other actuarial matters. Work under limited supervision with considerable latitude for initiative and independent judgment.

Responsibilities
  • Perform actuarial examinations of health insurance companies and other related entities and prepare examination reports and work papers.
  • Review actuarial opinions, supporting reports, and other related analysis.
  • Provide feedback, coaching, guidance, and technical assistance to others as applicable.
  • Progress toward achieving required actuarial credentials and complete continuing education to maintain credentials.
  • Perform actuarial analysis as needed for the Financial Regulation Division and the agency.
  • Participate in special projects such as rules, legislation, and requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Perform Actuarial Services with courtesy and professional respect, acting honestly, with integrity and competence.

Qualifications
  • Graduation from an accredited four‑year college or university, preferably with a major in statistics, mathematics or actuarial science, insurance, or related field.
Actuary III
  • Minimum of three years of relevant actuarial work experience.
  • A Health Actuary without credentials as an Associate of the Society of Actuaries is expected to demonstrate commitment toward achieving associateship by attempting the equivalent of two exam sittings during each 18‑month period and completing the equivalent of one exam during each 18‑month period.
Actuary IV
  • Minimum of five years of relevant actuarial work experience.
  • Associate or Fellow with the Society of Actuaries and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries in good standing, including maintaining required continuing education credits.
  • Ability to interpret insurance laws, regulations, requirements, and actuarial guidelines.
Employment Details
  • The position may be eligible for hybrid telecommuting. Employees must have a secure, dedicated workspace with Internet service, ability to maintain a reliable consistent work schedule, and be available for weekly meetings and group collaboration via Microsoft Teams and other applications during regular business hours.
  • A writing sample is required with the application submission.
