Position Summary
Commercial Loan Officer – responsible for developing new business through underwriting, structuring, and closing commercial loans, as well as maintaining and servicing an existing portfolio.
Responsibilities & Duties- Acquire, expand, and retain commercial relationships using a proactive calling strategy.
- Cross‑sell ancillary products and services of the bank.
- Analyze credit history of applicants and determine loan repayment capabilities.
- Negotiate credit terms, costs, loan repayment methods, and collateral specifications.
- Develop and maintain an interest‑rate structure consistent with institutional policies and competitive with current market rates.
- Evaluate potential customer loan requests and make loan recommendations to management.
- Daily review, approval, and disposition of commercial overdrafts.
- Review new laws and regulations that influence business lending and recommend adjustments to management.
- Provide assistance and recommend training for new commercial loan officers.
- Develop new customer prospects and business for the bank.
- Represent the bank in the local community through active participation in community affairs.
- Handle customer complaints and escalated issues as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work station.
- Recommend to supervisor potential methods to improve department operations.
- Complete all required compliance examinations on a yearly basis.
- Adhere to all corporate policies and procedures.
- Dress professionally at all times.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or accounting. - Minimum of three years of experience in commercial banking.
- Extensive knowledge of commercial lending policies, procedures, and related services.
- Business development experience.
- Exceptional customer service skills.
- Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities.
- Demonstrates good judgment and strong interpersonal skills.
- Effective communicator in written, verbal, and non‑verbal formats.
- Willingness to accept additional responsibilities.
- Dependable, with strict adherence to timelines and schedules.
- Initiative in development and completion of projects.
