JOB SUMMARY
Performs highly complex budget preparation and analysis work. Work involves coordinating budgetary activities; reviewing and analyzing budgets and performance measures; and providing technical advice and assistance on budgetary matters. Works under limited supervision with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
A. Examines operating budgets to determine whether funds have been appropriately allocated; develops and monitors program performance measures; prepares and assists in the preparation of performance reports; and evaluates workload measures.
B. Provides advice and assistance on financial planning and management to include improvements for fund and staff utilization, management accountability, and efficient means to reach program objectives; coordinates budget procedures, preparation, and reporting; and prepares budget instructions.
C. Compiles data and prepares financial reports; reviews financial and operating budget reports and recommends alternate financing strategies; assists in reviewing and scoring proposed budgets during the grant funding process; and reports fund transfers to appropriate areas.
D. Assists in coordinating reviews of Community Supervision and Corrections Department (CSCD) contracts for offender services and in monitoring compliance with program and agency policies and procedures; and assists in reviewing and approving CSCD budgets and adjustments.
E. Assists in preparing legislative appropriation requests; coordinates research and budgetary activities for appropriations requests; studies and develops budget formulas to prepare appropriations requests; and prepares fiscal reports.
F. Develops training; provides technical assistance for the program areas; and maintains instructional manuals.

Budget Analyst I Salary: $3,807.03/MO B18 ERS Retiree Salary: $2919.50/month
Budget Analyst II Salary: $4,357.26/MO B20 ERS Retiree Salary: $4263.19/month
Budget Analyst III Salary: $4,908.68/MO B22 ERS Retiree Salary: $4801.16/month
