Sunflower Bank, N.A. is looking for an energetic, highly motivated individual to fill the position of a full‑time Business Banking Client Manager in Austin, TX.
The Business Banking Client Manager position is responsible for sourcing, securing, developing, and retaining profitable business banking relationships within the assigned region. The primary focus is on finding new business opportunities to sell the Bank’s products and services and retaining/expanding existing relationships. This position also contributes to the assigned region’s credit portfolio quality and processes requests for credit extension, ensuring credit facilities are properly structured, priced, and documented.
The Business Banking Client Manager maintains and grows current relationships by identifying and presenting new lending opportunities as well as cross‑selling bank products as the opportunity arises. This role serves as primary manager of a portfolio of relationships and targets clients with loan exposures primarily in the $250 M to $2.5 MM range.
- Serve as primary contact with assigned customers focusing on retention and growth in profitability. Identify business needs and corresponding sales opportunities bank-wide and actively promote ways to increase customer reliance on bank products and services, capitalizing on the unique and comprehensive capabilities of the Bank, including Deposit Products, Cash Management, Capital Markets, Loan Products, and personal banking products and services.
- Develop new business banking relationships for the Bank. Conduct interviews with applicants to thoroughly understand current and prospective needs including the business financial situation and need for Bank products and services. Visit applicants at their places of business to verify and better assess their current situation and future needs.
- Obtain financial statements, tax returns, and other credit information and ensure maintenance of electronic credit files. Conduct analysis of pertinent credit information and/or credit checks.
- Work closely with the credit group on all new credit requests and renewals ensuring that all relevant financial and non-financial information is available to the portfolio manager, forming a joint banking team for all bank clients.
- Manage existing portfolio and stay informed on their condition. Be aware of developing trends in the market that may impact credit quality. Work closely with the portfolio management teams to ensure responsiveness to portfolio management needs and timeliness of reporting responses.
- Partner with an assigned branch network to drive customer engagement, retention, and overall growth across all bank product lines.
- Manage all communications with customers related to credit and non-credit issues. Work with the commercial documentation department and Business Credit Management team in the review and negotiation of loan documents. Maintain assigned annual goals for portfolio growth, new business development, and portfolio maintenance.
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field, preferred.
- 1–3+ years of experience with business development.
- Experience in commercial or business banking with general knowledge of lending laws and regulations.
- Credit experience.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Excellent customer service skills.
Pay is dependent on knowledge, skills, abilities, experience, and location.
