About You

Working with our Governmental Relations (GR) team, the TASB Senior School Finance Advisor will analyze school finance legislation and policy and advise on potential funding and operational expense implications for districts. You will also serve as the Association’s in-house expert on Texas public school finance – providing strategic, cross-functional support to serve areas across TASB and externally representing the Association and our members on issues related to school finance.

Full-time preferred but a part-time schedule may be considered for the right candidate.

A Typical Day Legislative & Policy Advisory (Government Relations)
  • Analyze proposed and enacted legislation related to school finance, taxation, budgeting, and funding formulas
  • Advise Government Relations staff on the fiscal and operational implications of school finance proposals
  • Participate in meetings with lawmakers and legislative staff on complex school finance issues, as appropriate
  • Assist in the development of bill analyses, policy briefs, and post-session summaries
Implementation Guidance
  • Serve as a technical advisor to Legal Services and HR Services on post-session bill analysis and implementation resources
  • Translate statutory and regulatory changes into practical, district-facing guidance related to school finance
  • Review finance-related legal resources for technical accuracy and clarity
Communications & Content Development
  • Partner with Communications to develop clear, accessible materials on school finance topics
  • Translate complex financial concepts into plain language for trustees, policymakers, and public audiences
  • Provide subject-matter review for finance-related communications materials
Training & Board Development
  • Collaborate with Board Development Services to design trustee training on school finance, budgeting, and fiscal oversight
