Position Information

TxDOT’s Austin District Construction Office is seeking a Construction Contract Specialist III to support complex contract administration for construction projects based at the District Headquarters in Austin, Texas
. This role performs advanced duties including reviewing, developing, monitoring, and ensuring compliance of construction-related contracts; coordinating with internal and external partners; preparing and processing contract documents; and providing technical and administrative support throughout the contracting lifecycle. This position requires extensive interaction with governmental officials and private entities and involves independently prioritizing tasks to meet established objectives.

Salary Range:

Construction Contract Specialist III: B20 ($51,158- $81,351) /annually

Minimum Salary: 51,158.00

Maximum Salary: 81,351.00

Pay Basis: Yearly

FLSA Status: Exempt

Work Locations: Austin District Headquarters 7901 NORTH IH 35 Austin 78753

Travel: Yes, 10 % of the Time

This position performs highly complex contract duties to include developing, analyzing, evaluating, reviewing, processing, ensuring applicable compliance, inspecting, implementing and/or monitoring contracts. Work requires extensive contact with governmental officials and private entities. Employees at this level establish their own work plan and priorities to meet set objectives. Issues are rarely referred to the supervisor but are handled at the occurrence.

  • Audits payment invoices for completeness, accuracy and compliance with terms of contract and governmental contracting rules, regulations and procedures.
  • Maintains, updates and compiles detailed data, reports, summaries, files, records, logs, statistics or specific contracts including procurement documents and revisions; writes routine and unique correspondence.
  • Provides technical and administrative support to include reviewing, processing, answers questions, provides assistance and handles complaints and resolution of discrepancies and problems regarding contracts, billing, payment and warrant actions.
  • Reviews coordinates and processes routine open records requests.
  • Performs other job responsibilities as assigned. This position requires driving a state vehicle.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance or related field. Relevant work experience may be substituted for degree on a year per year basis.

Experience: 3 YEARS in contract administration, administrative support, bookkeeping or accounting. (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent.) Related graduate level education may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis.

Valid driver’s license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.
