Under the direction of the Wildlife Conservation Program Director, this position is responsible for oversight and administration of a group of permit programs within the Wildlife Conservation Program (including but not limited to Wildlife Rehabilitation, Falconry, Scientific Research Permit, Educational Display permit, Zoological permits, etc.). This position coordinates the receiving, reviewing and processing of license and permit applications. Functions as frontline contact with partner agencies and the general and regulated public to assist with permit regulation and compliance.
Works with Law Enforcement and other permitting agencies to provide technical assistance and monitor compliance with permit program requirements and regulations. Makes recommendations for and develops program administrative policy and procedures to ensure program efficiency. Suggests changes to program website and updates and resolves technical problems. May travel to attend meetings, perform inspections and/or to follow up on complaints and compliance of permit tees.
Performs additional duties as assigned. This position complies with all Agency, Division and Branch rules, regulations and procedures.

- Education:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree. - Experience:
LPS II:
None; LPS III:
Two years of experience with data entry, customer service and administrative procedures within the Wildlife Permitting Program. - Licensure:
Must possess or be able to obtain, within 30 days of employment, a valid State driver's license.
- Education:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in ecology, wildlife, fisheries or marine science, or closely related natural resources field. - Experience:
Familiarity or experience with natural resource related projects.
- Knowledge of applicable policies, administrative codes, and statutes.
- Knowledge of administrative practices and procedures.
- Knowledge of native Texas wildlife.
- Skill in using MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Skill in effective verbal and written communication.
- Skill in effective interaction with staff at all levels of the department and other State agencies and organizations.
- Skill in providing quality customer service in a courteous and professional manner.
- Skill in complex data entry and maintaining hard copy and electronic files.
- Skill in viewing and tracking information in a complex database.
- Skill in identifying, researching and compiling information.
- Skill in problem solving.
- Skill in managing several projects.
