Job Overview

Parole Officer IV – Super Intensive Supervision Program – Parole Division (713863) ).

Location

United States – Texas – Austin.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, implement, coordinate, monitor, and evaluate the Super Intensive Supervision Program (SISP); participate in program goals, objectives, and the development of new resources and services.
  • Study and analyze operations, prepare reports of findings and recommendations, and collaborate with staff to identify and implement solutions; conduct special investigations, program analyses, research studies; monitor compliance with program policies and laws.
  • Prepare program budget requests; review and analyze complex statistical program information; prepare related reports.
  • Direct parole officers in developing new information sources and improving case‑work techniques; coordinate and conduct investigations of highly confidential matters; direct actions for specific cases.
  • Prepare and conduct training workshops and other informational programs; liaise with agency staff, other agencies, organizations, and the public.
  • Perform criminal information searches using the Texas Department of Public Safety criminal history system.
  • Supervise the work of others; provide technical guidance and assistance in the program area.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Education, Experience, and Training
  • Bachelor’s degree in a recognized field (Criminal Justice, Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Education, or related). Each year of additional experience beyond the required four years may be substituted for thirty semester hours, up to a maximum of two years.
  • Four years full‑time wage‑earning experience in criminal justice, case management, case processing, or military service.
  • Experience in supervising employees (preferred).
  • Experience developing, administering, or monitoring offender monitoring programs (preferred).
  • Parole officer experience (preferred).
  • Technical review or program evaluation experience (preferred).
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to obtain Certified Texas Contract Manager (CTCM) certification within 12 months and maintain it thereafter.
  • Certification in Texas Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (TLETS) policy and procedures within 6 months (preferred).
Knowledge & Skills
  • Knowledge of principles of criminology and penology.
  • Knowledge of methods, techniques, and practices of parole case management.
  • Knowledge of applicable state and federal laws, rules, regulations, and statutes.
  • Knowledge of offender monitoring program methodologies.
  • Knowledge of agency organizational structure, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations (preferred).
  • Skill to communicate ideas and instructions clearly and concisely.
  • Skill to coordinate with other staff, departments, officials, agencies, organizations, and the public.
  • Skill to interpret and apply rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Skill to use computers and related equipment in a standalone or local area network environment.
  • Skill in administrative problem‑solving techniques.
  • Skill to gather, assemble, correlate, and analyze facts.
  • Skill to prepare and maintain accurate records, files, and reports.
  • Skill to review statistical data and prepare statistical reports.
  • Skill to develop and conduct training and in‑service programs.
  • Skill to establish program goals and objectives.
  • Skill to develop and evaluate administrative policies and procedures.
  • Skill to supervise the work of others.
Additional Requirements
  • Ability to walk, stand, sit, kneel, push, stoop, reach above shoulder level, grasp, pull, bend repeatedly, identify colors, hear with aid, see, write, count, read, speak, analyze, alphabetize, lift and carry under 15 lbs., perceive depth, operate a motor vehicle and motor equipment.
  • Work within environments that may include machines with moving parts, radiant and electrical energy, close interactions or solitude, protracted or irregular hours, and travel by car, van, bus, and airplane.
  • Use of computer equipment, calculator, copier, fax machine, telephone, dolly, automobile.
