This position supports communications work for Family Support Services (FSS) and reports to the Director of Policy and Prevention Strategies. The role plans, facilitates, and coordinates internal and external communications, reviewing, tracking, and guiding communications and messaging projects and public awareness campaigns based on data and trends. It performs advanced informational and educational work and manages multiple complex projects, including overseeing and developing content for FSS’ public‑facing parenting support website;
creating and coordinating communication materials such as presentations and articles for newsletters; providing technical assistance to providers and stakeholders around communications; participating on agency and division‑level work groups; coordinating high‑level assignments with FSS management; ensuring internal and external communications meet agency standards and accessibility requirements; and assisting FSS staff with identified communications projects. The position routinely interacts with state and federal agencies, external stakeholders, and the general public.
It develops and monitors project schedules, priorities, and standards for achieving goals, working under limited supervision with considerable latitude for initiative and independent judgment.
- Coordinate and execute planning, researching, writing, editing, and distribution of Family Support Services’ information using varied platforms such as newsletters and website copy for internal and external stakeholders.
- Manage complex projects; create project plans, set priorities, establish timelines and deliverables; coordinate illustrative, photographic, or audiovisual content for products like videos, newsletters, website content, and training materials.
- Develop and deliver executive briefings, legislative reports, presentations, white papers, and strategic planning documents; prepare clear summaries and recommendations related to program performance, funding, policy changes, and legislative activity.
- Track communication statistics and trends to identify and resolve operational problems; work with the Communications Department to monitor visits to the FSS and Get Parenting Tips websites and public media campaign data.
- Establish and maintain standards and work processes to ensure communication strategies are used effectively and efficiently; recommend best communication methods or platforms; plan and execute training and technical assistance webinars, workshops, and consultation for FSS grantees statewide.
- Consult and collaborate with other teams within Family Support Services, state agencies, and federal partners; attend work on a regular and predictable schedule in accordance with agency leave policy and perform other duties as assigned.
