Public Transportation Specialist III

TxDOT is seeking a professional to serve as a Public Transportation Specialist III. This position acts as a district or division liaison and coordinates compliance reviews to ensure adherence to applicable federal and state laws, regulations, policies, and procedures. The role provides technical assistance to internal and external stakeholders, develops and recommends program guidelines and procedures, and resolves audit exceptions while supporting effective administration of public transportation programs.

The selected candidate's work location may be headquartered in Austin, Beaumont, Corpus Christi, Houston or Waco.

Minimum Salary: $68,000.00

Maximum Salary: $82,000.00

Position Description

Administers complex state and federal public transportation grant programs and projects. Performs program and project oversight activities to include complex applications, grant agreements, procurements, reimbursements, audits and administrative requirements to determine compliance with federal and state requirements, laws, regulations, policies, and procedures. Work requires contact with departmental managers, high-level executives, governmental officials and/or private entities. Employees at this level establish their own work plan and priorities to meet set objectives under direction from their supervisor but are handled at the occurrence.

Essential Duties:

  • Acts as district or division liaison in area of expertise.
  • Collaborates with program staff to provide technical assistance on program requirements to government agencies, transit providers, community organizations and the general public.
  • Collaborates with program staff to conduct reviews to ensure compliance with federal and state requirements, laws, regulations, policies and procedures; assists in approvals and developing recommendations for improvements.
  • Plans, develops and recommends program guidelines, policies, procedures, enhancements and methodologies.
  • Processes data for input; maintains and verifies reports; and/or establishes and updates records.
  • Resolves audit exceptions.
  • Writes internal/external correspondence/reports/lists/forms/updates/memos concerning programs and projects.
  • Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in public or business administration or an accounting related field. Relevant work experience may be substituted for degree on a year per year basis.
