As one of the United States' premier state military organizations, this Texas State agency provides the Governor and the President with ready forces in support of state and federal authorities both domestically and internationally. The Adjutant General of Texas, the state's senior military official appointed by the governor, leads the agency and prompts coordination with the Texas Army National Guard, the Texas Air National Guard, the Texas State Guard, and the Domestic Operations Task Force.
They are customer service-oriented and work to serve and protect Texas communities.
- Review requisitions for completeness and compliance with applicable requirements prior to processing, process Purchase Orders (POs) and send correspondence needed to procure selected goods and services.
- Draft solicitation documents, primarily Invitations for Bid and Requests for Proposals.
- Determine appropriate Centralized Masters Bidders List vendors to solicit or select state term contract vendors.
- Enter all necessary information into agency People Soft financial system (CAPPS).
- Communicate with requesters, accounting, and vendors to ensure timely delivery of goods and services.
- Work with requesters, subject matter experts, stakeholders, agency staff and purchasing staff to coordinate or resolve purchasing related issues.
- Initiate, approve, and process emergency purchases.
- May provide guidance to others and perform related work as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in finance, business administration, public administration, or a related field (Previous work experience of state purchasing may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.)
- Minimum of three (3) years of government purchasing experience.
- Knowledge of purchasing and procurement methods and procedures, state procurement principles and practices, assigned commodities and products on the open market, supply sources, and principles of business administration and accounting.
- Skill in problem solving and in the use of a computer and applicable software.
- Ability to perform arithmetical computations, evaluate bids, develop methods and procedures for locating supply sources, maintain a system of recordkeeping, maintain effective working relationships with vendors and suppliers, and communicate effectively.
- Required:
Certified Texas Contract Developer (CTCD) and/or Certified Texas Contract Manager (CTCM).
- Rate: $51.00/hr.
