Job Description

At EY, we're all in to shape your future with confidence. We'll help you succeed in a globally connected powerhouse of diverse teams and take your career wherever you want it to go. Join EY and help to build a better working world.

EY's Forensics Insurance and Federal Claims Services practice specializes in helping clients achieve their financial recovery goals following disaster events such as hurricanes, fires, tornadoes, and pandemics. As a leading professional services firm, we offer grants management, compliance, and insurance claims services to some of the most complex and prestigious public and private sector entities.

This EY team consists of a diverse group of professionals, including accountants with disaster management experience, forensic accountants, engineers, former FEMA professionals, and other claims experts, all working collaboratively to provide our clients with unmatched expertise.

Your key responsibilities:

  • Work with engagement teams to provide government and public sector clients with a variety of services associated with the management and compliance of disaster recovery funding made available through complex grant and stimulus programs (FEMA, HUD CDBG-DR).
  • Assist with large grant projects for states and local governments.
  • Interact with local governments to support project development.
  • Organize and analyze large volumes of information.
  • Verify numerous aspects of compliance including transaction testing and programmatic requirements.
  • Travel and presence at client sites, along with in-office presence will be required.

Skills and attributes for success:

  • Take responsibility for high quality execution and delivery of specific parts of the engagement.
  • Demonstrate strong technical and analytic skills.
  • Develop yourself and others through seeking and offering on-the-job coaching.
  • Use technology to continually learn and share your knowledge with other team members.
  • Maintain a strong focus on the client and be responsive to their requests.
  • Develop relationships with clients and other stakeholder personnel.
  • Work effectively with teams of varying sizes.

To qualify for the role you must have:

  • A bachelor's degree in accounting, law, business, finance, emergency management or related field.
  • 1+ years of related compliance, audit, or financial management experience, ideally with a government agency or professional services firm.
  • Effective project and time management skills and the ability to prioritize when working on multiple engagements.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • The ability and willingness to travel and work in excess of standard hours when necessary.
  • Access to reliable transportation to/from the EY office and client sites. A driver's license is strongly recommended as ride share and public transportation options may not be available in all locations.

Ideally, you'll also have:

  • A strong interest in the government and public sector.

What we look for:

We are looking for passionate leaders who are eager to assist individuals, governments, and organizations during their most critical times. A strong technical foundation is crucial, along with the ability to convert complex information into actionable insights. We value individuals who can build and maintain both internal and external relationships and are dedicated to deeply understanding our clients' needs.

What we offer you:

At EY, we'll develop you with future-focused skills and equip you with world-class experiences. We'll empower you in a flexible environment, and fuel you and your extraordinary talents in a diverse and inclusive culture of globally connected teams. We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you'll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business.

Join us in our team-led and leader-enabled hybrid model. Our expectation is for most people in external, client serving roles to work together in person 40-60% of the time over the course of an engagement, project or year. Under our flexible vacation policy, you'll decide how much vacation time you need based on your own personal circumstances. You'll also be granted time off for designated EY Paid Holidays, Winter/Summer breaks, Personal/Family Care, and other leaves of absence when needed to support your physical, financial, and emotional well-being.

EY accepts applications for this position on an on-going basis. For those living in California, please  for additional information. EY focuses on high-ethical standards and integrity among its employees and expects all candidates to demonstrate these qualities.
