Brief Job Description
Performs complex project consultative services and technical assistance for coordination of statewide Maternal and Child Health (MCH)-funded population-based maternal and perinatal health education programs. Under the general direction of the MCH Senior Nurse Advisor within the Maternal and Child Health Section’s Strategy, Education and Improvement Group, develops, coordinates, administers, monitors, and evaluates educational plans, content, and programs to improve maternal and perinatal health and safety.
Consults with and provides technical assistance to agency staff and program stakeholders to increase awareness, knowledge, and skill among audiences including women and families, providers, organizations, and communities to promote improvement in maternal and perinatal health and safety outcomes. Works with considerable latitude using both initiative and independent judgment to plan, review, consult on, develop, disseminate and evaluate maternal and perinatal health educational programming.
Essential Job Functions (EJFs)
- Attends work on a regular and predictable schedule in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.
- Coordinates development of maternal and perinatal health educational and training programs, policies, and procedures and develops, reviews, revises, and implements educational curriculum and materials for a variety of professional audiences to increase awareness, knowledge, and skill and address educational gaps. Oversees instructional methods and development of aids, materials, and tools. Directly provides, and coordinates with program staff and other subject matter experts to provide, subject matter expertise in maternal and perinatal health toward development of educational and program content.
Ensures that maternal and perinatal health subject matter expertise as well as expertise in the principles of adult learning, health literacy, and accessibility are utilized in development of educational programming and materials. Evaluates and recommends appropriate educational methods and environments for delivery of educational content, such as online, print, and in-person learning environments. Coordinates process for obtaining and providing continuing education credits for professional education programs as appropriate.
Conducts educational programming and coordinates and provides guidance to program staff who provide maternal and perinatal health educational programming. (40%) - Coordinates with program staff to assess and identify needs for development of maternal and perinatal health educational programming and materials. Participates in programmatic strategic planning to identify opportunities for promoting development and utilization of educational programming and to increase awareness, knowledge and skill as well as application of best practices toward improvement of maternal and perinatal health and safety. Coordinates with programs to identify opportunities for integrating maternal and perinatal health and safety strategies and messaging into program educational efforts and materials.
Serves as a professional resource for program customers in developing educational program strategies and materials. (30%) - Coordinates development and implementation of course assessments and evaluations and reviews and analyzes outcomes to make recommendations for improvement of educational programs and materials.
