Counseling and Mental Health Center (CMHC) is an accredited on‑campus mental health facility dedicated to supporting the well‑being of UT Austin students. CMHC offers a range of services, including assessment and referral, group and individual counseling, psychiatry and well‑being services.
The Longhorn Wellness Center is the health promotion unit servicing University Health Services and Counseling and Mental Health Center. Staff focuses on educating students about priority college health issues by hosting workshops and events, creating new tools, and collaborating with the campus community to enhance overall well‑being.

PurposeGeneral Counseling and Mental Health Center seeks to fill one (1) position as the coordinator of our Mindful Eating Program. Must be licensed as a Professional Counselor, Clinical Social Worker, or Psychologist. This position will provide short‑term individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, prevention and outreach services to undergraduate and graduate students with an emphasis on supporting students who present with disordered eating and/or body image difficulties.
Responsibilities- Conduct initial assessments of students’ presenting concerns and provide short‑term counseling for students referred for service.
- Maintain timely, accurate, and complete documentation of all service contacts as required by center policies and procedures.
- Develop and implement a blend of programmatic interventions that address the psycho‑social mental health needs of students.
- Identify group assignment preferences, propose and develop new groups, and initiate advertising, recruitment, and screening for groups.
- Facilitate groups in accordance with service agreement and demonstrate knowledge about group counseling or seek appropriate training.
- Review client records to determine progress, effectiveness, and appropriateness of treatment services offered.
- Provide clinical consultation to others as needed, seek consultation when appropriate, and offer urgent care services as necessary to students.
- Collaborate with other mental health professionals on CMHC’s multidisciplinary staff and other university departments and organizations.
- Develop linkages with key contacts of the designated population or issue to develop and implement programmatic interventions that generate substantial student participation.
- Provide clinical training and supervision to social work and psychology interns, pre‑doctoral psychology practicum students, and group co‑leaders.
- Co‑lead training seminars, offer and supervise preceptorships and apprenticeships for interns, and participate on training‑related committees.
