Certification Details
- Perform routine and comprehensive ultrasound examinations for interpretation by the Maternal Fetal Medicine and Radiology faculty using specialized ultrasound equipment.
- Assist the interpreting physician by obtaining, reviewing, and integrating pertinent patient history and supporting clinical data to facilitate optimal diagnostic results.
- Perform appropriate procedures and record anatomic, pathologic, and/or physiologic data for interpretation by the physician.
- Record and process sonographic images and other pertinent observations made during the procedure for presentation to the interpreting physician.
- Exercise discretion and judgment in the performance of the diagnostic exam.
- Provide patient education related to the ultrasound procedure.
- Adhere to the standards of care and maintain a safe environment.
- Verify patient identification and review that the requested procedure correlates with the patient’s clinical history.
- Review clinical information, including relevant personal and family history, exposures and other risk factors, including prior imaging study reports or images as available.
- Communicate effectively with patients in a pleasant and reassuring manner, explaining the procedure and responding to questions and concerns.
- Use independent judgment during the sonographic exam to differentiate between normal and pathologic findings.
- Extend the scope of the exam by providing additional ultrasound images based on pathology or aberrant findings.
- Review images for accurate annotation, technique, and completeness, adjusting technical factors to improve image quality.
- Maintain knowledge of anatomy, pathology, hemodynamics, and ultrasound physics to identify and characterize normal and aberrant anatomy, masses, fluid collections, stenosis, and sonographic artifacts.
- Perform and complete the ultrasound examination within the designated time frame.
Job Details
- Graduated from a Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program.
- 3 years of experience in specialty.
- Required - RDMS-OB (Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer OBGYN) American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
- Required - RDMS-FE (Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer in Fetal Echocardiography) American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
Job Requirements
- Monday-Friday 7:45 AM - 5:00 PM (may vary based on clinic schedule)
Schedule Information
- Broad knowledge of ultrasound physics and procedures; operation of all required equipment, basic life support and medical terminology.
- Ability to demonstrate excellent customer service and positive guest relations; promote positive interdepartmental and intradepartmental communications and relationships; maintain confidentiality; demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills.
