Must hold an RCIS or ARRT certification. Open to training Radiology Technicians interested in transitioning into the Cath Lab.
Work Schedule:
4-10 hour day shifts, Monday‑Thursday call only. Minimal weekend call – approximately one weekend every four months.
Lakeway is located about 25 miles west of downtown Austin, on the south shore of Lake Travis in the scenic Texas Hill Country. The community offers golf courses, tennis courts, marinas, a 65‑mile long lake, 100 acres of parkland and trails, and nearly 500 acres of greenbelts. Dining at The Oasis on Lake Travis provides gorgeous views of the rolling hills and sailboats floating on the lake.
Baylor Scott & White Health Lakeway is a 121‑bed, full‑service hospital. The Medical Center is a certified primary stroke center, a certified chest pain center, and has Magnet recognition for nursing professionalism, teamwork, and patient‑care excellence.
Must live within 30 minutes of the hospital.
Facility & Equipment- 3 procedure suites with 2 GE fluoroscopy units (soon upgraded to Philips), 1 Siemens biplane system, and 12 private pre/post holding rooms.
- Procedures performed include cardiology (left heart catheterization, PFO closure, STEMI/MI treatment, mechanical device insertions, lithotripsy, thrombectomy, renal stenting, peripheral vascular, PCI), interventional radiology (kyphoplasty, port‑a‑cath placements, biopsies, cryoablations, uterine artery embolization, prostate embolization, GI bleed embolization, thrombectomy, percutaneous drain placement, paracentesis, thoracentesis, fistula grams), and electrophysiology (pacemaker, ablation, cryo‑ablation, pulse field ablation). Population varies (adult).
Spacious procedure rooms support the nurse circulating, the scrub tech, and the physician. Equipment can be brought into the room as needed.
3:1 nurse‑to‑patient ratio for pre/post care. Techs rotate modalities and procedures.

The Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist, under general supervision, assists physicians during catheterization and electrophysiology lab procedures. Responsibilities include preparing rooms and equipment, instructing patients, monitoring patient condition, providing routine and emergency care, contributing to orientation and training of team members, and supporting daily, monthly, and quarterly quality control initiatives through auditing and reporting.
Essential Functions of the Role- Assists physicians with arteriograms/catheterizations, permanent pacemaker implantations, implantable cardiac defibrillator procedures, diagnostic and interventional cardiology, peripheral and coronary interventions, and thrombolytic therapy.
- Follows national and state radiation protection regulations for patients, self, and staff. Provides emergency procedures such as CPR and defibrillation as needed.
