Job Summary
The Volunteer Healthcare Clinic (VHC) is seeking a dedicated Part-Time Pharmacist to join our team and support our mission of providing exceptional patient care. This role focuses on filling prescriptions, dispensing medication, and counseling patients in a supportive, patient-centered environment during two daytime pharmacy shifts*. The Pharmacist ensures the pharmacy operates smoothly and in full compliance with all Texas State Board of Pharmacy regulations.
This position reports to VHC’s Pharmacist in Charge and the Executive Director.
* Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Ability to occasionally cover for Pharmacist in Charge on Fridays from 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm if needed.
Key Responsibilities- Create and maintain a caring, team-oriented environment with outstanding customer service.
- Accurately fill and refill prescriptions using the pharmacy computer system; prepare medications for patient pickup.
- Dispense medications and provide patient-centered counseling, documenting all actions appropriately.
- Communicate with clinical staff regarding prescription challenges and coordinate with evening pharmacy staff to ensure smooth operations.
- Complete required pharmacy dispensing reports and quarterly Dispensary of Hope (DOH) reports.
- Manage inventory of medications and OTC products, including ordering, stocking, removing expired items, and maintaining a clean, organized pharmacy space.
- Sanitize, close, and secure the pharmacy at the end of each daytime session.
- Follow all pharmacy policies and procedures, participate in quality improvement initiatives, and comply with HIPAA and all Texas State Board of Pharmacy regulations.
- Licensed Pharmacist in good standing with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy
. - Bilingual in Spanish (written & spoken) – not required but highly beneficial.
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a practicing Pharmacist.
- Strong computer and data-entry skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and maintain professionalism in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff and volunteers
