Texas Oncology is the largest community oncology provider in the United States. We are looking for a Certified Medical Assistant to join our infusion team at the North Austin location. The role is full‑time Monday–Friday 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m. with no weekends, calls, or major holidays.
OverviewAs a Certified Medical Assistant under direct supervision, you will assist physicians and clinicians in patient care duties in a clinical environment. You will help promote efficient patient flow, perform clinic support tasks such as clerical duties, answer phones, and maintain physician schedules. You will support the US Oncology Compliance Program, adhere to the Code of Ethics and Business Standards, and execute other administrative duties as required.
Responsibilities- Escort patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment rooms as appropriate.
- Record patient data prior to each physician visit, including vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.
- Obtain all necessary patient records prior to treatment or procedures.
- Prepare and stock exam/treatment rooms and order supplies as needed.
- Assist physicians with exams and procedures as requested.
- Administer subcutaneous and intramuscular injections, as delegated by RN or physician.
- Maintain all exam/treatment room disinfection protocols.
- Answer patient telephone calls for referral to physician or nurse/pharmacist.
- Process prescriptions and make other patient calls as directed by physicians and RN.
- Inform physician of patient reschedules and no‑shows.
- Perform additional administrative duties—typing, filing, faxing, chart preparation, reception—as requested by supervisor or physician.
- May enter orders under a provider’s direction and supervision.
Level 1 (Entry‑level)
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Certificate of graduation from an accredited medical assistant program preferred.
- 0–3 years experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant.
- Current BCLS certification required within 3 months of hire.
- Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
Level 2 (Additional requirements over Level 1)
- Minimum three years experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant.
- Phlebotomy experience preferred.
Level Sr (Additional requirements over Level 1 and
2)
- Minimum five years experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant in a hospital or clinic setting.
- Current CPR certification required.
Requires full range of body motion, including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, eye‑hand coordination, standing and walking for extended periods, and occasional lifting of items up to 40 lbs. Requires corrected vision and hearing to a normal range. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
