OverviewThe Bilingual Crisis Counselor provides crisis intervention, supportive counseling, risk/protectiveness assessment, emergency clinical assessment, and ongoing case management to children and families referred by the Child Protection Team (CPT). The role requires continuous clinical assessment and treatment planning based on comprehensive assessment.
Minimum Qualifications- Master’s degree in a behavioral science
- Clinical license (LMSW, LCSW, LPC, or LPC Associate)
- Minimum two years of experience in case management for child victims of sexual and physical abuse, child protection, crisis support, and counseling
- Collaborative working with Law Enforcement, the District Attorney’s Office, Child Protective Services, and forensic interviewers
- Risk assessment of forensic interview clients and safety planning with CPS and Law Enforcement
- Certification or willingness to achieve certification in the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics
- Bi‑lingual English/Spanish required
- Support non‑offending caregivers to protect and support their children
- Provide psychosocial assessment, psychotherapy, and case management for children and protective caregivers
- Assess cognitive, emotional, and psychosocial history of clients and caregivers
- Determine clinical service needs for children and families
- Establish case plans with clear objectives, goals, and intervention strategies
- Collaborate with Law Enforcement and CPS to provide status updates throughout investigations and prosecutions
- Administer assessment tools and provide psycho educational and psychotherapeutic services
- Offer crisis intervention services at the point of forensic interview
- Refer children and families to community resources and provide coordination of follow‑up services
- Provide written documentation to Law Enforcement and the District Attorney’s Office throughout the case
- Offer group therapy facilitation and program coverage for forensic, therapy, and medical cases as needed
- Represent the organization at community events as requested
- Assist clinical supervisors in strategic planning and growth opportunities for the Child Protection Team
- Maintain professional licensure, compliance with Texas State Board of Social Work Examiners, and continued education requirements
