Job SummaryThe premier Level I Pediatric Trauma Center in Central Texas, is seeking a specialized Pediatric OR Nurse for a unique weekend/early-week night shift. In this role, you will support emergent and urgent surgical cases that arrive through the Level I Trauma portal or from inpatient units during the night. You will be part of a dedicated night team ensuring that high-acuity pediatric surgical care is available 24/7.
KeyResponsibilities
- Circulating Pediatric Cases: Manage the nursing care within the OR for a variety of pediatric specialties, including General, Orthopedic, Neuro, and Trauma surgery.
- Level I Trauma Response: Facilitate immediate surgical intervention for life-threatening pediatric traumas, maintaining readiness for "crash" starts.
- Patient Advocacy & Safety: Ensure the "Time Out" process is strictly followed and maintain a safe environment for patients ranging from neonates to young adults.
- Sterile Field Oversight: Monitor sterile technique and coordinate with the scrub team to ensure all specialized pediatric instrumentation and equipment are available and functioning.
- Clinical Documentation: Accurately document surgical times, implant data, and intraoperative nursing care within the hospital's EMR.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of Operating Room experience is typically required, with a strong preference for Pediatric OR experience.
- Licensure: Active Texas State RN License or Compact License.
- Certifications:
- BLS (AHA) – Required.
- PALS (AHA) – Required.
- CNOR – Preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in circulating complex pediatric cases and familiarity with pediatric-specific surgical equipment and positioning.
- Department: Peds Surgery ).
- Setting: Pediatric Level 1 Trauma Operating Room.
- Schedule: 3x12.5-hour shifts (Sun/Mon/Tue).
- On-Call: No call required for this specific night contract.
