Purpose

General Counseling and Mental Health Center is seeking the coordinator of our Mindful Eating Program. Must be licensed as a Professional Counselor, Clinical Social Worker, or Psychologist. This position will provide short‑term individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, prevention and outreach services to undergraduate and graduate students with emphasis on supporting students who present with disordered eating and/or body image difficulties.

Responsibilities
  • Provide short‑term individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, prevention and outreach services to undergraduate and graduate students with emphasis on supporting students who present with disordered eating and/or body image difficulties.
  • Conduct initial assessments of students' presenting concerns. Conduct short‑term counseling with students referred for service.
  • Maintain timely, accurate, and complete documentation of all service contacts as required by center policies and procedures.
  • Develop and implement a good blend of programmatic interventions which address the psycho‑social mental health needs of students as applicable.
  • Identify group assignment preferences and propose/develop new groups, as appropriate.
  • Initiate advertising, recruitment, and screening for group.
  • Facilitate groups in accordance with service agreement.
  • Demonstrate knowledge about group counseling and/or seek appropriate training.
  • Review client record to determine the progress, effectiveness, and appropriateness of treatment services offered.
  • Provide clinical consultation to others on an as‑needed basis and seek consultation when appropriate; provide urgent care services as necessary to students.
  • Work collaboratively and cooperatively with other mental health professionals on CMHC's multidisciplinary staff and other university departments and organizations.
  • Develop linkages with key contacts of the designated population or issue for the purpose of developing and implementing programmatic interventions which generate substantial participation by students.
  • Provide clinical training and supervision to social work and psychology interns, as well as pre‑doctoral psychology practicum students.
  • Provide individual supervision of interns, practicum students, or psychiatric residents.
  • Provide individual supervision of group co‑leaders.
  • Supervise interns' supervision of practicum students.
  • Co‑lead training seminars.
  • Offer and supervise preceptorships and apprenticeships for interns.
  • Participate on training‑related committees.
  • Participate in training activities during the orientation period.
  • Timely signature on clinical documentation and communication with supervisor of relevant issues.
  • Attend and participate in departmental and division meetings and staff development programs as assigned.
  • Participate in the prevention and outreach team meetings by contributing new ideas, engaging in problem solving and seeking better ways to impact the mental health needs of students.
  • Comply with all CMHC and UT policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • May be assigned other relevant duties as applicable.
Education Requirements
  • Master's Degree in Counseling, Counseling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Social Work or other degree which meets Texas licensure eligibility.
  • Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology or other degree acceptable to the Texas Board of Examiners of Psychology.
Required Qualifications
  • Licensed to practice independently as a Professional Counselor, Clinical Social Worker, or Psychologist (or equivalent from another state, with ability to obtain Texas licensure within one year).
  • Experience in high demand outpatient or inpatient mental health setting.
  • Experience providing culturally competent treatment to a varied client population.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
