Job Summary
The Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist assists physicians during catheterization and electrophysiology lab procedures. Responsibilities include preparing the room and equipment, instructing patients, monitoring patient conditions, providing routine and emergency care during procedures, contributing to the orientation and training of other team members, and supporting daily, monthly, and quarterly quality control initiatives.
Essential Functions- Assist physicians with arteriograms/catheterizations, permanent pacemaker implantations, and other diagnostic and interventional procedures.
- Follow national and state radiation protection regulations for patients, self, and staff.
- Provide emergency procedures such as CPR and defibrillation as needed.
- Perform pre- and post-procedure care and monitoring.
- Orient patients for catheterization or electrophysiology procedures and answer related questions to keep them relaxed.
- Monitor patient’s ECG, pressures, temperature, and impedances while in the Electrophysiology Lab; notify the physician of variances.
- Help run RF/Cryo ablation systems, 3D mapping, and record procedural documentation.
- Manage and maintain imaging data, including stenosis testing, formatting, and processing for cardiac and peripheral cases.
- Assist in procedure rooms and collect registry and quality data on appropriate forms.
- Gather catheterization data and prepare procedure reports.
- Prepare and maintain sterile fields for Lab procedures.
- Order and maintain inventory of procedure room supplies and ensure equipment is not expired.
- Co‑ordinate and audit resources during yearly inventories.
- Perform routine calibration and maintenance of complex equipment; notify appropriate team members for repairs.
- Help orient and train new staff and students, or take on extra duties as established by the supervisor/manager.
- Oversee quality control monitoring, such as NPSG auditing, turnaround times, and performance improvement initiatives (daily, monthly, or quarterly).
- Participate in mutual governance, department, hospital, or professional organization committees, including LEAN initiatives, NOBLE, 5S projects, and QC assurance with managers.
- Transport patients to and from the procedural area.
- Demonstrate good customer service skills.
4‑10 hour day shifts, Monday–Thursday call only. Minimal weekend call—approximately one weekend every four months.

Must hold RCIS or ARRT certification and must live within 30 minutes of the hospital.
Qualification & Experience- Associate’s degree in a related field or completion of a U.S. military training program with equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of related cardiovascular lab experience.
- Less than 1 year of experience for entry‑level positions.
- ACLS within 30 days of hire/transfer.
- BLS within 30 days of hire/transfer.
- ARRT‑R Radiography, CCRS, CEPS, CCDS, RCIS, RCES, or equivalent certifications as required.
