Job SummaryAs a Lead Surgical Technologist, you will accept overall responsibility for a designated surgical area and facilitate the safe and effective completion of invasive surgical procedures. You will ensure all equipment, supplies, and instruments are available, operational, accurate, and organized. In addition, you will train and mentor other staff and serve as a role model.
Responsibilities- Assist and oversee tasks performed by Surgical Technologists to ensure the unit is supplied and equipped for procedures.
- Oversee the functioning and troubleshooting of equipment.
- Prepare for each procedure and demonstrate proper patient positioning on the operating room table.
- Maintain a clean operating room suite for patients.
- Assist in the maintenance of instruments and equipment by proper utilization, cleaning, care and sterilization.
- Anticipate the surgeon’s needs during surgery and obtain preferences from physicians regarding procedures.
- Ensure supplies and equipment have been ordered, and restock unused sterile supplies and equipment.
- Assist with operating room turnover.
- Demonstrated competency in multiple inpatient and outpatient surgical specialties.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
- 4 years of recent experience as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) with demonstrated competency in multiple inpatient and outpatient surgical specialties.
- Graduation from an accredited Surgical Technologist program.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification per St. David’s Healthcare policy.
