About the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral SciencesThe department trains mental health professionals, provides culturally informed evidence‑based care, and leads research on the neurobiological causes of psychiatric disorders.
About the Pediatric PsychologistThe Pediatric Psychologist will conduct comprehensive diagnostic evaluations for autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and related developmental conditions and design evidence‑based intervention plans. The role collaborates with multidisciplinary teams at Dell Children’s Medical Center to support developmental, behavioral, and emotional outcomes for youth in crisis.
Essential Functions- Provide family‑centered psychoeducation on ASD and evidence‑based interventions, and offer training to staff, trainees, and community partners.
- Conduct comprehensive developmental and psychological evaluations for children and adolescents using standardized tools such as ADOS‑2 and ADI‑R.
- Integrate interview, observation, and testing data to inform accurate diagnoses, prepare clear reports, and deliver compassionate feedback to families.
- Interact routinely with emergency room and hospital physicians, staff, and external community mental health providers to coordinate collaborative care.
- Engage in training, supervision, and didactics for psychology interns and fellows; participate in clinical research and program development, and pursue faculty appointment at the university.
Required Qualifications
- Doctoral degree from an APA or CPA accredited program in Clinical, Counseling, or School Psychology.
- Completion of an APA or CPA accredited internship in psychology.
- Completion of a postdoctoral fellowship in clinical child and adolescent or pediatric psychology.
- Unrestricted license to practice psychology in Texas or ability to obtain prior to appointment.
- Eligibility and commitment to pursue board certification through the American Board of Professional Psychology.
- Eligibility for faculty appointment at the University of Texas Dell Medical School.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
- Clinical teaching experience.
