Front Desk Receptionist

Job Summary

USPI Hyde Park Surgery Center is seeking a motivated Front Desk Receptionist to join our team. We have 3 OR rooms and perform outpatient surgical procedures in ENT, Orthopedic, Pain Management, and Spine. Position requires weekdays only—no holidays, weekends, or call. Some early mornings and later evenings may be required; schedule subject to change based on surgical schedule and flow of the day.

The Front Desk Receptionist interfaces with patients and families, physicians and staff; admits patients and processes their paperwork; updates patient demographics/information in system; collects monies due and documents in the billing system; handles funds per office procedure; and answers incoming phone calls.

• High school diploma or GED
• Minimum 2-3 years of hospital or medical office experience
• Knowledge of The Joint Commission Standards
• Ability to use time wisely in preparing work areas to meet high-paced demand
• Show a genuine desire to work and improve the center as a whole
• Must be detail oriented
• Must be able to communicate verbally and non-verbally in a professional manner
• Must be able to adhere to hospital financial and admitting policies
• Ability to promote positive relationships with patients and staff
• Must know insurance verification and collection processes
• Must have problem solving and decision-making skills
• Professional appearance
• Must demonstrate excellent phone etiquette and exceptional customer service skills
