Responsibilities
Mental Health Tech assists in the direct care and management of patients across all age ranges with medical and behavioral issues as directed by the treatment team. The role provides assistance with unit programming to facilitate the carryover of therapy issues, leisure activities, and activities of daily living within the functional ability of patients and with consideration for the patient's level of growth.
The Mental Health Tech accompanies and actively supervises patients in activities of daily living (ADLs), appointments, and recreational activities that occur both on and off the living unit. They actively assist therapists and teachers with patients to provide therapeutic and/or educational activities. The employee documents patient behaviors, condition, and progress on a daily basis by recording data in the prescribed format.
The role provides hands‑on physical care, supervision, crisis intervention, behavior management, and behavior modification as directed by the individual treatment plan and unit program guidelines.

QualificationsJob Requirements:
- Education and training: High school diploma or equivalent. Prefer a bachelor’s degree or college courses in health care, mental health, recreational therapy, education, or human growth and development.
- Licensure and/or certification: Current CPR certification.
- Experience: No minimum required; prefer one year of experience as a nurse’s aide, mental health aide, psych aide, or the equivalent in a rehabilitation, psychiatric, or similar setting.
- Physical/General: Sustain physical activity and remain on feet throughout scheduled shift. Lifting requirements are 50 lbs, and SAMA training is required.
