Job Summary: The Ultrasound Specialist RVT is responsible for performing high-quality routine and specialized ultrasound procedures as requested by licensed independent practitioners for interpretation by radiologists. This role integrates scientific knowledge, technical skills, patient interaction, and compassionate care to produce diagnostic information. The Specialist must possess a detailed understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology. This position primarily involves pediatric cases with a small number of basic pregnancy scans and requires night shift availability (Monday-Thursday, 9:00 PM-7:30 AM).
Required Qualifications:
- Graduate of a formal diagnostic Radiology program
- BLS certification from the American Heart Association
- RVT certification (Registered Vascular Technician) from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) required within 18 months of entry into the role
- One of the following certifications:
- RDMS-AB (RDMS in Abdomen) from ARDMS
- RDMS-OB (Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer in OBGYN) from ARDMS
- RDMS-PS (RDMS in Pediatric Sonography) from ARDMS
- S-ARRT (ARRT Registered Technologist in Sonography) from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists
Preferred Qualifications:
- Pediatric experience
- Broad knowledge of ultrasound physics and procedures
- Ability to operate and troubleshoot required equipment
- Understanding of medical terminology
- Demonstration of professional fundamental competencies
- Articulate, courteous, and supportive communication skills
- Confidentiality and adherence to established protocols
- Bilingual skills (preferred)
Additional Information:
