Responsibilities

Pulmonary Testing

  • Perform high-quality spirometry (pre/post‑bronchodilator) and, as available, complete PFTs: lung volumes, DLCO, and peak flow.

  • Maintain a safe, clean, organized testing environment and adequate clinical supplies.

Care Coordination and Admin

  • Assist with oxygen qualification workflows and coordinate with DME vendors, oxygen suppliers, PAP suppliers, pharmacies, sleep labs, imaging centers, and referring offices.
  • Support prior authorizations and documentation for PFTs, sleep studies, PAP therapy, oxygen, nebulizers, respiratory equipment, and specialty medications.
  • Use the EMR to manage orders, documentation, and routing.
  • Patient care and education
  • Provide inhaler technique training, spacer and nebulizer education, oxygen safety counseling, and preparation for respiratory testing.
  • Occasionally assist with in‑clinic nebulizer treatments, 6‑minute walk tests, and ambulatory pulse oximetry.
Qualifications

Required

  • Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care program accredited by the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care, or by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CoARC/CAAHEP).
  • NBRC‑credentialed: CRT or RRT.
