Under the direction of the Director of Data Analytics, the Data Analyst V performs highly complex (senior level) data collection, research, reporting, and analysis to monitor, evaluate, and increase efficiencies for Texas State Hospitals (SH). Work involves gathering and analyzing data requirements, report design and implementation, and ongoing maintenance of existing reports and processes. Position requires being familiar with The Joint Commission Standards.

The analyst will work with other SH staff as well as other HHSC staff to develop back-end tables and logic to drive reporting; create original programming logic and evaluate and/or modify existing programs to take into account changes in requirements; and will review work products developed by other analysts. The analyst will interact with agency program staff, division staff, other analysts and stakeholders to ensure data requirements are met and that all work products are appropriately reviewed and validated.

The analyst will prepare diagrams and logic flowcharts for detailed coding and for the documentation of programming work and may interact with staff from other agencies and outside entities as required to facilitate data collaboration, obtain required work products, or for consultation. The analyst will participate in system design meetings for new SH initiatives to ensure the ability for SHs to collect and report applicable data.

This position will produce concise, comprehensive technical reports to present findings, identify alternatives, and make recommendations for process improvement, and outline solutions to monitor and implement data quality.
