Manager of HIM/Medical Records
Meridell Achievement Center is a 134-bed, seclusion free, psychiatric residential treatment facility located northwest of Austin. Our 60-acre campus is complete with mature oaks, rolling hills, and plenty of walking paths and outdoor spaces. We have 7 unique living units separated by gender, age, and development needs with a swimming pool, gymnasium, sports court and playing fields. We provide 24-hour psychiatric care to girls and boys ages 10 to 17 years old with customized therapeutic approaches and intensive behavioral programs to teach young patients to moderate their behavior, manage emotions and improve social functioning.
Position Summary:
The Manager of HIM/Medical Records oversees the Health Information Department, provides medical record expertise where needed to administration, the medical and professional staff, associates, customers, and external agencies. The Manager of HIM/Medical records will ensure compliance within HIPAA, state, and local requirements of patient medical records.
Your Impact:
Develops, implements, and maintains patient information systems to fulfill the needs of the organization, and licensing, accrediting, and reimbursement agencies. Monitors medical record documentation and provides feedback to staff on results and recommends changes to information management systems as appropriate. Provides consultative services to administration and the medical and professional staff in the development of forms to capture patient information, objective criteria to assess documentation and information systems design and integration.
Keeps Administration, management and the medical and professional staff current on accrediting agency requirements and facilitates organizational compliance to the standards related to management of information and performance improvement. Provides training, coaching, and direction to department staff. Ensures that staff complete all mandatory training/licensures on or before due date. Performs other duties as assigned/required by this position.

Qualifications Education/Training:
Associate's degree in related field required, bachelors degree preferred. Distinct training or education on HIPAA compliance and electronic medical records, preferably in a behavioral health hospital.
Experience:
Minimum of three (3) years' supervisory experience in health information management is required. Five (8) to eight (8) years of experience preferred. Direct experience in a behavioral health care facility preferred.
Licensure/Certification :
Current Registered Health Information Administrator Certificate (RHIA) or a current Registered Health Information Technician Certificate (RHIT) required. Valid Texas driver's license required. Knowledge and
