The Ortho Surgery Coordinator, Central Austin is a full-time, on-site role based in Austin, TX, supporting orthopedic providers and patients through efficient surgery coordination. Day-to-day responsibilities include scheduling orthopedic surgeries, verifying insurance and authorizations, obtaining necessary medical clearances, and coordinating with surgeons, anesthesia, hospital staff, and patients to ensure accurate and timely information. The coordinator maintains detailed records, prepares and updates surgery packets, confirms procedure details, and follows up on changes or cancellations.
This role also involves answering patient and staff inquiries, providing clear and courteous explanations of pre- and post-operative instructions, and collaborating with the medical office team to ensure a smooth workflow and a positive patient experience.
- Ability to manage Surgery Scheduling tasks, including coordinating procedures, timelines, and required documentation.
- Strong knowledge of Medical Terminology and Medicine relevant to orthopedic surgery and pre-/post-operative care.
- Experience working in a Medical Office setting, with familiarity in front and back office workflows and electronic health records.
- Demonstrated Customer Service skills, including clear communication, empathy, and professionalism in patient and staff interactions.
- Attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with computer systems and scheduling software; experience with healthcare EHR platforms preferred.
- Prior experience in surgery coordination, orthopedic practice, or hospital scheduling strongly preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary coursework or certification in medical administration or healthcare-related field is a plus.
