Job Summary:

The Bilingual Therapist provides trauma-informed individual, family, and group therapy services to children and families referred by the Child Protection Team. This position is responsible for conducting clinical assessments, developing and implementing treatment plans, providing case management services, and collaborating with multidisciplinary partners to support the safety, healing, and well-being of children and families. The therapist works within a Children's Advocacy Center model and provides services in both English and Spanish.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in social work, Counseling, Psychology, or related behavioral science field
  • Current Texas license or associate license (LMSW, LCSW, LPC, or LPC Associate)
  • Minimum one year of experience providing clinical services to children and families, including individual, family, and group therapy
  • Experience working with children and families in high-risk environments
  • Experience providing clinical case management services
  • Experience working within a multidisciplinary team environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to think creatively and exercise sound judgment
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and professional disciplines in stressful situations
  • Ability to accept and implement feedback to enhance service delivery and clinical effectiveness
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working within a Children’s Advocacy Center or child welfare setting
  • Training or experience in TF-CBT
  • Training or experience using the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics
Key Responsibilities Clinical Assessment & Treatment
  • Provide individual, family, and group therapy services for children and families with high-risk needs
  • Conduct clinical assessments and evaluations, including assessing developmental, cognitive, and emotional functioning, to determine treatment needs and appropriate intervention strategies
  • Utilize DSM 5 and subsequent updated versions, to assist in guiding assessment and treatment planning
  • Complete treatment planning process, to include clear treatment objectives, goals, and intervention strategies to be reviewed with the Director of Clinical Services during treatment plan reviews
  • Provide clients with clinical assessment and inform clinical treatment goals and intervention strategies
  • Complete standardized assessment measures for children and non-offending caregivers in a timely manner and integrate findings into treatment planning
  • Provide psychoeducation services to clients and caregivers
  • Successfully complete Phase 1 training of the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics and utilize this model to assist in guiding assessment and treatment plans
  • Successfully complete TF-CBT training as required by CAC of Texas and other trainings as assigned
  • Adhere to organizational policy by providing mental health services only within the scope of employment at the Center
Crisis Intervention & Clinical Services
  • Provide crisis counseling services for children and families
  • Complete urgent clinical intakes, including informed consent, releases, client rights review, and comprehensive clinical assessments
  • Assess psychiatric needs and refer children for psychiatric evaluation and medication management as appropriate
  • Collaborate with psychiatric providers and other treatment professionals
Case Management & Family Support
  • Conduct clinical case management assessments and refer children and families to appropriate community resources based on identified needs
  • Refer children and families to appropriate community resources and support services
  • Provide ongoing follow-up and case management services for families with identified mental health needs
Collaboration & Professional Development
  • Work collaboratively with Child Protection Team members and multidisciplinary partners
  • Participate in weekly supervision with the Director of Clinical Services or designee to review caseloads, treatment plans and professional development
  • Participate in review of therapy sessions with the Director of Clinical Services, including observation through cameras located in therapy rooms
Compliance & Professional Standards
  • Maintain professional licensure and required continuing education, renewing license on time
  • Comply with Texas mandated reporting laws by reporting suspected abuse or neglect within 24 hours of developing reasonable cause to believe it has occurred or may occur
  • Notify supervisor of any disruption in licensure or licensing board investigation
  • Adhere to ethical standards and professional standards, including the rules and regulations of the Texas State Board of Social work Examiners
