Overview

The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Dell Medical School is seeking a Behavioral Health Therapist Associate (LPC-Associate or LMSW) to support mental health programs focused on children and adolescents across Texas.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct behavioral and mental health assessments and provide psychotherapy under the supervision of an LPC‑S or LCSW‑S.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
  • Provide individual and family psychotherapy.
  • Participate in screening, tracking, and reporting of patient outcomes.
  • Document all clinical interactions in accordance with ethical, federal, and state standards.
  • Offer discipline‑specific knowledge to interdisciplinary teams and advise on mental health, cultural competency, and social determinants of health.
  • Contribute to innovative approaches for behavioral health management and value‑based care initiatives.
  • Support operational improvements in patient care.
  • Provide clinical support to interdisciplinary teams coordinating services for schools, guardians, and patients.
  • Help school staff, guardians, and patients build coping strategies and psychological skills to improve daily functioning.
  • Connect patients to community mental health services and resources.
  • Offer evidence‑based consultation to schools on campus mental health needs.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community behavioral health providers.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, continuing education, and research opportunities.
  • Engage in clinical supervision under an LPC‑S or LCSW‑S, consistent with licensure and experience.
  • Engage in interdepartmental collaboration and best practice development.

Education and Experience
  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Education, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field.
  • 1,000 hours toward full clinical licensure.
  • Experience working with children, adolescents, and/or family systems.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency in both English and Spanish.
  • Experience with electronic medical records systems (e.g., Epic, Athena).
  • Experience with telehealth platforms and school‑based interventions.
Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications Required
  • Current licensure in Texas as a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) or Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPC‑Associate).
  • Eligibility for clinical supervision toward LCSW or LPC licensure.
Salary Range

$60,000+ depending on qualifications.

Working Environment
  • Standard office equipment and repetitive keyboard use.
  • Occasional weekend, overtime, and evening work to meet deadlines.
  • Occasional interstate, intrastate and international travel.
  • Field work as necessary.
