Position Summary

The Billing Coder position is responsible for accurately coding medical records, claims, and services provided by the hospice and palliative care team. This role ensures that all services are coded according to current industry standards and compliance regulations to facilitate appropriate billing and reimbursement. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical coding, attention to detail, and experience with hospice and palliative care billing practices.

Duties

And Responsibilities
  • Accurate Coding:
    Review patient records and documentation to assign appropriate ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes for hospice and palliative care services.
  • Billing Compliance:
    Ensure all coding is in compliance with current federal, state, and local regulations, as well as Medicare and Medicaid guidelines specific to hospice and palliative care.
  • Claims Processing:
    Prepare and submit accurate claims for services rendered, addressing any discrepancies or errors before submission.
  • Record Maintenance:
    Maintain organized and accurate patient records, including coding logs and reports.
  • Collaboration:

    Work closely with the clinical and administrative teams to ensure accurate documentation and billing of services.
  • Denial Management:
    Review and address denied claims, making necessary corrections and resubmitting as needed.
  • Education & Training:
    Stay current with coding guidelines, regulations, and updates relevant to hospice and palliative care. Provide guidance and training to staff as needed.
