Urology Coding & Billing Supervisor
Urology Specialists is seeking an experienced Urology Coding & Billing Supervisor to join our growing team. We are a busy urology practice with 14 providers serving four locations throughout Austin and the surrounding area.
Our Billing Team currently consists of 4 full-time and 2 part-time team member and works closely with our front desk and clinical teams to maximize the efficiency and success of our revenue cycle.
Position OverviewThe Urology Coding & Billing Supervisor will oversee the practice’s revenue cycle, billing, coding, collections, and billing team performance while remaining hands-on with daily operations.
This is a leadership position for someone who can manage and develop a team, improve processes, solve problems, and drive results. The Supervisor will monitor claims, denials, accounts receivable, collections, and coding accuracy while identifying opportunities to improve reimbursement and reduce revenue loss.
This position will work closely with providers, clinical staff, front desk teams, and practice leadership to ensure an efficient revenue cycle from scheduling through payment.
A strong focus will be placed on technology, automation, and AI to improve efficiency, analyze billing data, reduce manual work, and strengthen revenue cycle performance. Athena One/athenahealth experience is a strong plus.
The ideal candidate is a strong leader, problem-solver, and team player who can hold staff accountable while creating a positive and collaborative work environment.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise, mentor, and support the billing team while maintaining a positive, collaborative work environment
- Oversee daily medical billing, coding, claims submission, payment posting, denials, appeals, and accounts receivable
- Review and analyze coding and billing to ensure accuracy, compliance, and appropriate reimbursement
- Monitor revenue cycle performance and identify opportunities to improve collections and reduce denials
- Assist with prior authorizations and insurance-related issues as needed
- Utilize AI tools and technology to streamline billing, coding, reporting, and revenue cycle processes
- Identify opportunities for automation and process improvement
- Work closely with front desk and clinical teams to ensure a smooth revenue cycle from scheduling through payment
- Troubleshoot billing issues and provide solutions to staff and patients
- Assist with patient records, document management, data entry, faxing, and other administrative duties as needed
- Maintain strong communication and positive working relationships with patients, providers, and staff
- Multitask effectively while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong management and leadership experience is required
- Strong experience using AI tools and technology in a business or healthcare setting is required
- Minimum 1 year of medical billing experience
- Minimum 1 year of supervisory/management experience
- Strong knowledge of medical coding, billing, claims, denials, and revenue cycle management
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Strong computer and technology skills
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently while being a collaborative team member

One experience is a strong plus - Urology billing and coding experience is preferred
- Competitive salary starting at $60,000/year, based on experience
