Job Description

The Texas Health and Specialty Care System (HSCS) is seeking a skilled and experienced Forensic Services Coordinator (FSC) to join the Office of Forensic Services and Coordination (OFSC). The FSC works under the direction of the Director of County Programs and ultimately the State Forensic Director, in the OFSC. The FSC performs advanced consultative services, technical assistance, and support for persons on the forensic wait list, county stakeholders, and Texas State Hospitals and State Supported Living Centers via forensic wait list monitoring and services offered through the Jail In-Reach and Forensic Support Team Programs and OFSC's forensic initiatives and projects.

This involves identifying needs of stakeholders and individuals served and planning, developing, and implementing program services to government agencies, community organizations. The FSC works under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (EJFs)
  • Performs a variety of technical assistance activities such as Clinical Security Reviews (CSR), Expedited Admission Requests, and Standardized Clinically Based Competency Screens (SCCS) to support the forensic waitlist and OFSC programs including planning, developing, and delivering trainings on various forensic related topics. Serves as a liaison to internal and external stakeholders including government agencies and community organizations to assist in explaining program services and specifics and provides high-level advice and guidance on barriers, issues, or questions related to the forensic population and the programs OFSC offers.

  • Consults and collaborates with internal and external stakeholders involved in the JIR and FST programs to identify training needs, resolves problems, and discuss program effectiveness with participants. This includes planning, developing, and documenting all technical assistance and support provided through the programs and identifying areas for improvement or high utilization. (20%)
  • Analyze program performance data on the program activities and technical assistance provided via progress reports to help ensure compliance with program contracts, policies, and procedures. Recommend solutions and corrective actions as needed to ensure programs are working as intended. (15%)
